FYI: If you are Experiencing Slow Data - Read This

I haven't notice any unstable signal here in Ocala.

There have been variances over the recent weeks though. I'd hit 7.5 a couple times and had a lot of 6+s. It seems to have calmed down a good bit running constant 3-5s. Perfectly usable. ULs are still wonky but a 1.5 M pic UL just fine at .30 Mps UL so I'm not worried about that.

No problem with the signal here. Certainly nothing that makes me NEED GSM.

I feel your plight when it comes to the utter zaniness of it.. Look at these two results.. One was about fifteen miles from the other... Lame.

things are smooth on the GSM side of things...I forgot about the unstable 4G being on my S3..and I will be switching back to it tom..ughhh note3 can't come soon enough!

i mean things had been going good on CDMA since around march...up until a month ago almost, its really unusable, its like 4G comes on and off, contantly, sometimes even at full bar locations, some spots are good though, like 15/4 speeds, its just not stable and i know it used to be stable at speeds around 2/.5 at least...up untill a month ago here in Miami, i'd go grab the s4, if im guaranteed that this 4G on and off switching every 2 minutes is gonna go away.

Man, I'm just blown away how LOUSY my speeds have been since around the 2nd week of August. I called MetroPCS and had them "re-activate" my account/phone... TWICE. The first time, they had me do it manually (i.e., ##626*). No change at all. Second time, they had me dial *228 like some have said above while they sent a command to the phone. They had to do this twice, the first instance it not taking, and in the second instance, the command/reprogramming took, but the phone didn't reset. Then we did it manually again ((##626*).

Nothing. No change. And perhaps even a bit slower now!!!!

And I'm talking slow folks. Like 1 down, .3 up. Ping through the roof.

Also... in all instances of talking with MetroPCS reps, they said that the term "re-activation" was a non-sequitur. I'm at my wits end, especially since I've been accustomed to near 10 times the speed.

(sigh)

Do you have a custom rom installed on your phone?

Interesting North Central Florida data point from just a bit ago.

I ran a couple SpeedTests about 2.5-3.0 miles from where I usual am, closer to the more populated area of town. I was showing 4 bars and was maybe 1/2 a mile from a Metro store. I got DL of 6.7 and 6.9 and UL right where I'd expect them at 4.3 and 4.4.

In that 2.5-3 miles home, I dropped a bar to 3 and got DL oif 4.9 and 5.5 but then the crappy UL of .11 and .12

At least in this instance, the UL speed seemed much more affected by distance to the tower than did the DL speeds.
