Help G-mail help for dummies...

For some reason I can't figure this out. I just started using my G-mail account. I usually use my work (exchange) e-mail. But i need the G-mail one now so work can't see certain e-mails i'm expecting.

Everything works fine BUT when i delete junk or old mail it always comes back. I have deleted the same e-mails over and over and over. Every time i open it up, they are back. I'm usuing the g-mail app. I have clicked "delete" and then checked the boxes and clicked on "OK". I have opened the e-mails and deleted from there. Nothing seems to work. I think some delete and stay deleted but most always come back. I can tell because i'll clean them up today, open up g-mail tomorrow and there will be dates from weeks ago?????

what am i doing wrong?

If you login to the gmail website do you notice the same thing? Or only on the phone app?

Every once in a while I notice the website is not 100% synced with my phone, but it's typically because I'm in a place with poor reception. As an example, my inbox online might have more email listed than my inbox on my phone.

Otherwise, I have never heard of this problem. Might be best to uninstall/reinstall the app to see if that fixed anything
