initial impressions:
-nice material, well made
-keyboard works flawlessly with VEGAn (i didn't even get a prompt, just plug and play)
-keyboard functions will run android commands (i.e. windows button = android menu button)
-stand holds it at a great angle for viewing (this is a must, especially with our screens)
-does not cover any accessory ports (micro/mini USB, headphones, charger) or buttons (power, volume, etc.)
-DOES cover part of left side speaker and all of right side speaker (although you can still hear them)
-no plastic bracket to hold top of tablet (uses the magnetic closing strap to keep it in while upside down which concerns me slightly, although the magnet is fairly strong)
-included stylus does not work (duh)

all in all, i would certainly recommend this case. the only comparable ones out for the g-tab right now are $10-15 more than i paid through amazon, do not include a keyboard, and ship from China.

Thanks for the review. I have a couple of questions...

How does it work on your lap? Is the kickstand wide enough that it holds the screen up on your legs?

Is the keyboard USB-powered, or does it take batteries? If it runs off the USB, how much does it affect the battery life of the Tab?

The kickstand is not enough to hold it up in my lap. I have just been holding it as I did without the case, but with the keyboard folded around the back. if you unplug the keyboard, you don't have to worry about pressing keys and, like I said earlier, just flip the board back around, pop the cord in and type away when you need it. I am still amazed that you don't have to enable it in settings or any thing.

The keyboard does not have its own source of power but I can't comment on how it affects battery life on the tab yet. I will update when I have had it for more than 2 hours. :p

Haha, fair enough, I didn't know how long you've had it.

I'm juuuust about to pick up a G-Tablet. This might be the push over the edge that I needed.

I bought this case and am disappointed. It looks great, and the concept is fine. However, the USB port (needed to connect the keyboard) is covered by the left side tab of the case. I had to bend the tab out to connect it. I notice that the side tabs in the pictures posted here by SolidOrange are lower than mine. Looks like I need to return mine so I can more easily connect it.

Was yours the Viewsonic-specific model? I noticed that there was a similar "Apad" case on Amazon.
They said it was, but I've now found out that they move the tabs for the G-tab and missed doing so on the one they sent me. Here's a link. So, I'm returning it and re-ordering from another vendor.

You know technically I can prop the kickstand on my thigh, it (the kickstand) is not wide enough for perch on your lap.

The keyboard is usb-powered but I don't notice a strain on the battery.

There is a leather case with keyboard and kickstand listed on Amazon for about $35 which is supposed to fit the Viewsonic g10 Tablet. The left side holder is positioned at the point where it covers the standard USB port opening. Also, the case is about one half inch too large. Does not securely hold the tablet in place. The case is worth $35 if you have a product that fits.

Not sure what happened...just clicked your link and the price is now $127.50! They must have realized how good a seller this item is...rats!!
On amazon multiple sellers can sell there product for the same item. The original seller for this case is GSAstore and they are selling it for $27 currently.

The thing to do is: look at all sellers by clicking on "# New" and see all the seller list for that item. Also you can click on "Sold By:" link right under the title descriptionwhich will take you to that sellers Items and select the one you want from there.

I found and ordered this one that has a top clip and side flat tabs for $35.95. This is the one I ordered:

This one has a picture that shows the gTab in it and the holders look perfect location for gTab.

Hi solidorange,
I bought the exact same case with keyboard as you, and I'm running vegan-tab gingerbread edition, but the tablet won't work with the keyboard :( I plugged it into my computer and it works fine with the computer, so apparently it's not that I got a faulty keyboard. Could I ask what version of vegan you were using?

edit: aha, I plugged a thumbdrive in to test whether my USB port was faulty. It worked, so I plugged the keyboard in again and this time it worked! In fact I'm typing this on my g tablet+keyboard now!

Another question now though: do the arrow keys work for you for scrolling around in text while typing? They don't for me... instead I keep randomly getting "text copied to clipboard" while typing.

I have the usb keyboard pictured above. They are now $15 on eBay. I absolutely love it. Two friends have bought it based on my experience and both like it as well/

One small issue, the key for the period is only half the size of all the others and takes some getting used to.

I have a question for anyone who uses this. I turn off the installed keyboard in the settings but it seems to revert when switching to some programs or on restart. Is there any way to permanently disable the installed keyboard?
