G1 Can Now Read Office Applications?

weezy

Newbie
I just received an email that had an excel spreadsheet attached and was able to preview it from Gmail on my G1 phone. Curious as to how this happened, I sent myself an email with a Word doc attached. I was also able to preview the Word document. Is this some kind of upgrade that was made? I'm pretty sure this didn't work a few days ago.

Whatever the case, it's pretty cool. Next up...creating and modifying documents. Can't wait.

G1 & Android RULEZ!

G1 & Android RULEZ!

if im not mistaken, the G1/android was always read-only for office formats.

Thanks. I didn't know that. Sorry, I'm a noobie.

lol no need to apologize, i was hoping someone would verify because i wasn't sure... i just remember reading a complaint somewhere that we can only view the files, not edit/create them.

My html viewer opens word docs just fine. But it cannot
"fetch" excel files. Anyone out there might know why? From the chatter out there it seems others are able to view both word and excel. Any help would be much appreciated.

my gmail account allows me to view attachmants. (pics, excel, word, adobe), but my other email only allows me to view picture attachmanets. Is anyone else able to view these atachments on emails other than gmail?

i cant view excel docs. are there anysettings i need to change on my email settings? i can see the email but i cannot preview the attachment. please help this g1 noobie.:(

It was always the case w/ G1, you can view via gmail.
There is still no way to create/edit from g1 (that I know off, and i'd be willing to pay). Some one mentioned to me that there is a program om marketplace where you can view out off gmail, but I haven't seen it yet.
Office/ productivity suit is what delayed me in getting g1 till 3 weeks ago.
Cheers,
Luki

how do you preview docs on the phone? if i try to view an attached .doc in the gmail app it says fetching attachment and then force closes after a while.
is that how they are ment to be accessed?
