Help G1 device not recognized

For so long I have been going online through G1 tethering without issue, now I have a new system running Windows 7 and have not been able to even get it to recognize the device... error message about malfunctioning device.

Reading through many posts here illuminates the phenomenal amount of knowledge Android users have.

Any ideas are much appreciated.

Have you installed the official Android drivers, or did you allow Windows to automatically install drivers? The drivers Windows 7 likes to load don't jive as well as the official drivers.

you provide that link? I attempted to find the proper driver, but instead traveled
down the rabbit hole into a strange place!
