Help g1 help please

I can't figure out for the life of me how to fix this problem. I am trying to update my phone and evertime I try to rebot the phone using the "home + power" buttone my phone will start with that warning symbol and phone and will not let me get to the wipe phone screen. It seems to be stuck on that screen. I have even let it sit for about an hour on that screen before I gave up. About phone

Is there any way to force boot into that wipe page. I have tried every thing. All I want is to update this phone. Damnit man

When you get to the screen with the triangle, are you pressing

Alt - L

I have forgoten to do that a couple times.

When you get to that screen, hit alt+L and it should bring up all the options. Hit alt+W and your phone will wipe.
