G1 Keyboard ...help

I have just purchased my new G1 mobile and its fab, BUT, can anybody tell me how you can keep the keypad back light on longer, as when iam typing it goes off after about 15 seconds which is annoying and is hard to see particularly at night??

advice please?

there's no setting for the backlight time. So someone would have to develop an app, or Android would have to resolve it in an update.

Got my G1 the day before the official launch /// It is like second nature now that my fingers on my right hand lightly touches the scrool-ball which lights the key board ... I do it now almost without thinking ...

ps - you would think they would design the keyboard back light to be programmed to be on when keyboard is opened, or the facility tom switch off keyboard backlight during daylight hours.
