G1 Or MyTouch? Keyboard Worries

The Reepr

Lurker
I am switching to T-Mobile (US) and am totally set on getting an Android phone. Here's what I do:

  • Heavy Texting
  • Heavy Mobile Internet Use
  • Light Email (Basically To Check Gmail, Nothing Serious)
  • I also use the GPS feature quite often
  • Using Android as a Dev Platform

I do plan on rooting either device as soon as I get it.

Now, my main concern with the MyTouch is not having a physical keyboard. I am coming from an LG Voyager (Verizon) which had a horrible email and web client but had an awesome keyboard so I managed with it. Please note I have little stubs for thumbs and would most likely have to use the MyTouch keyboard in landscape mode for most of my typing.

In which case, I would ask around a little more.

I am not sure if I'm right in saying that the mytouch and the G1 are essentially the same (making the G1 the better choice for you) - I MAY BE WRONG.

However, I made a decision a while back that touchscreen is the future, so I may as well suck it up and learn how to master it.

Helpful eh? ;)

Haha actually it was, thanks. I'm gonna get the MyTouch. More memory outweighs the lack of keyboard. Worst case scenario, if I hate the MyTouch keyboard THAT much, I'll switch it out for the G1 within the exchange period.

Get the MyTouch 3G and get the HTC keyboard and you'll be straight. My buddy and I took the plunge and disliked the normal keyboard, I came across this update and the htc keyboard works so much better, and you can calibrate it too.
