Help G1 Says No Service After Update

I know someone that's selling a G1, but it says "No Service." It worked fine before updating, but now it says that. Any help or ideas about what it could be or how to fix it?

I just replied in this thread, i'm having the same issue.

I don't know the solution yet though, sorry! Lets try make the other thread one where we can all post specs etc, and try find a cause to the problem, it seems odd that a lot of people are getting this today.
