G1 USB Car charger question

Does anyone know if something like this will charge the G1 via USB?

Newegg.com - Rosewill RCP-32TU USB Car Charger with 2 USB Port at 1 Amp

The only reason why I ask is I have a Duracell A/C battery charger with a USB out for charging things via the USB and my phone constantly says it charging then disconnects, then reconnects, then disconnects over and over when connected to that.

I had one and it worked. But I think my cigarette port is messed up now. Not saying its from the charger.

I have that disconnecting and reconnecting problem with one of my usb cables that I use at work to charge my phone on the PC. Its annoying. It seldom does it on its own but with the slightest touch of the cable, I get that issue.

it should work.
from what I (think) I remember, the g1 charger runs at 500mA
so 1 amp is double that, but it's split over 2 usb ports... I'm not exactly sure...
