Unplugged as normal in the morning, normal days worth of activity which for me is pretty average.

After work used 1.5hrs of GPS. Decent drain, but not horrible. Then went to a concert. Phone is in pocket started getting warm. Turns out, in the building cell reception was spotty, and was on 1X data. Must have been trying to do some syncing or data transfer and kept the radio working. Dropped a full 40%+ in fours hours there.

At 15% turned on airplane mode and it stopped draining the battery. With that 15% remaining i was still able to run the GPS on the way home. I had a car charger, but just wanted to see how much I could push it.

That cell standby will get you every time.

Poor reception and crap data connection will kill any phone. That's why we get shop different battery life numbers. I live in Thailand. Their data service is crap.

Yeah, I'm sure if I unplugged my extender at the house, and turned off WiFi, I'd have a hard time lasting 8 hours. But it almost sounds like a challenge...for another day :)

yup i am noticing battery drainage from phone standby as well here and there.

its looking for data connection constantly. only way to fix i seem is airplane mode or turn data off when u dont need it. but to be honest my past phone didnt have that issue.

Mine has great standby. Maybe location or something else is on? GPS and that. I dont need location so i turned it off at the phone and google settings also just for giggles.

In the google settings i noticed it said that google can collect your location information even if no apps are being used.

Try drinking a gallon of water through a stirrer straw and see how much energy it saps out of you. :)

Yup. Signal searching kills all batteries. When I notice I'm having those types of issues (e.g., concerts and sporting events, buildings here and there), I'll shut off my data. You still get text messages and phone calls.
