G3 stuck on AT&T Logo at boot

My wife's phone is stuck on the AT&T screen when booting. I am able to get into download mode, but am unsure of what to do next. I've downloaded the PC Suite and Mobile Support Tool (which seems to be more recent) from LG but in both cases when I do the update recovery I can't get it to work. The phone is totally stock, no root or anything, and as far as I know had the latest updates.

Can anyone help me bring the phone back from the dead?

Have you tried a Factory hard reset?

Not yet. I've read where that's not real successful for this issue and was hoping to save the data so I left it connected to Mobile Support Tool over night to see if it would eventually do it's thing. No such luck, though, so that will have to be my next attempt.

Well crap. The factory reset did work, but turns out was not needed. I put my wife's sim card in an old phone of mine so she'd have something while I farted around with hers. Did the factory reset and thought "yay, it worked". When I put stuff back in her phone it started hanging again. Turns out it was the SD card. When I took it back out is started working again. I guess I blew away her data for nothing.
