Yeah it's more of a project since I already own a much newer phone. The PIT file is Samsung's Partition Information Table file. The internal storage media in your S7 is divided up into several partitions. Most are for the operating system and one for the user data partition. A PIT just designates how the partitions are set up. So no, this won't be involved in what your asking. Generally, you should leave your phone's PIT as is and don't mess with it when flashing your phone.
You might want to try flashing the appropriate, matching G930V ROM to your G930T and see if everything still works. But don't be surprised if it doesn't and you end up soft-bricking your phone (if you're lucky, if not and you hard-brick it than it's game-over). If soft-bricked, you'll probably be able to just flash it with the correct, stock SM-G930T ROM to restore it to proper condition.
The thing is, there are any number of different hardware components inside your S7, many if not most are specific to the S7 models. Every ROM is created and crafted to include software, firmware, drivers, etc. to specifically match that unique hardware configuration in your specific model. So when you intentionally flash a non-matching ROM onto your phone, you're gambling on that ROM will actually work out. A different model's ROM only contains software that exactly corresponds with the hardware.
In your case there's a less likely chance there's significantly differences in hardware -- i.e. the cellular radio chip in your S7 covers a very wide range of different band/frequencies, the determining factor being what firmware (software). But don't be too surprised if there are odd, random problems like slow response times, or audio issues and things like that. If you have a carrier-locked model, that increases the chances of odd, glitches. You're always going to be better off using the correct stock ROM. But if this is a secondary phone and you just want to experiment, this is a good project.
Don't forget to back up your data before flashing your phone if this isn't a secondary phone.
Firmware is 100% cross-flashable among any of the USA models of the Galaxy S7. Nothing will be screwed up.So you are trying to change a phone from a "T" to a "V", correct?
Firmware is very device specific. I would not recommend this. You could screw the phone up, by doing so.
The PIT is already included in the CSC file. So it's already flashed, as part of the processIs a Pit file needed for converting a G930T to a G930V?
