Help Galaxy A3 storage problems

Hi I have a Galaxy A3 with an internal storage almost full. I have a 32GB sd card installed and mounted but hardly used. I have tried to move apps and data onto the sd card, but it keeps reporting 'not enough space'.
This is very frustrating, as I appear to have all this room which I cant use. I have music and pictures and several normal text files which could easily be more use out of phone storage. Can anyone suggest how I can do this please, as the manual doesn't cut it.

What Android version are you using? If you have Android 6.0, you can format your SD card as adoptive storage to merge it to the internal memory as one big storage.

Open the camera app, set it to save to SD card.

Open the My Files app. Use Cut and Paste to move the files to the SD card.
