Galaxy ace battery

My phone uses the s5830i battery on my galaxy ace, it has started to die out so i got a s5830 from my friend to use for a little while. However it does not charge so it wont turn on, does any one know why? Is it the battery, or does the s5830 not work on my phone as it usual uses s5830i

I don't see any technical reason it shouldn't work (and give you even more life), but knowing Samsung, they probably code the battery (electrically) somehow so that it doesn't work in another model of Ace.
