Help Galaxy Ace "kills" USB wifi adapter on PC

Hi,
I use a USB wireless "dongle" to connect my PC to my router, usually works well.
However, when I connect my stock gingerbread Galaxy Ace (whether I start using Kies, or just have the phone sitting there) the wireless connection from the PC drops out, and to get it running again, I have to shut down Kies (if it was running), disconnect the phone, un-plug the wireless USB dongle from the PC, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in and let Windows XP detect it again and re-connect to the network.
Definiatly a nuisance, as Kies is otherwise a nice package (as is the phone.)
So, it seems to be a problem with the phone connection to the computer via USB, using Kies or using the phone's native USB connection.
Does anyone know how to fix this ?

Edit: I've since uninstalled Kies, and just installed the Samsung USB driver (using MyPhoneExplorer instead - very nice package) and the same problem remains, so it wasn't Kies causing it, obviously.
Wireless dongle is a Netcomm NP545, by the way.

So, has anyone had this "wireless breaking" experience ?

Thanks in advance,
Roger.
