Help Galaxy Ace sms problem

Hi, I've been looking around for an answer but haven't managed to find one yet.

My samsung galaxy ace (gb 2.3.6) will send me about 15-20 old text messages all at once. It didn't bother me too much at first but now it's really starting to annoy as some of the messages, I didn't receive first time around (I'd just assumed the person had never replied) but then I'm getting it at like 3 in the morning all mixed up with about 20 other old messages.

I delete all my messages before it goes over like 500 so I don't really know where it's getting the messages from. I'm currently using go sms but I had the same problem on both handcent and the stock messaging app.

Any advice would be grateful thank you

You can do a factory reset if this is a phone problem. Just try your sim on another device and make sure its not the carrier problem, because when you reset the phone, you will loose all phone data, so make a backup before.
