Help Galaxy I5801 GPS sync

I recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy I5801 mobile. (Running on Ecliar). I tried the navigation tool (GPS) in galaxy i5801 for the first time but its not able to get a fix with the satellite. It keeps showing "Waiting for location". Sometimes after a few minutes when the screen turns off it stops scanning and comes out of the navigation program.. Is this normal?

I also tried preventing the screen from turning off. But even doin that for more than 10 mins I am not able to get a fix. How long does it take usually to sync with the satellite if we r using for the first time? Also is there any tweak for it without rooting the phone? I am staying in India.

Please help.

I have sorted it out by an app which is 'gps booster lite' from the market.
After installing, first of all, turn the gps on and open the nav.
but you may use the app only three times, however you can uninstall and install it again from downloading.

Thanks for the tip.. one question.. how do we know that the GPS lock is obtained? The GPS satellite symbol blinking on top becomes stationary? is that it?
I heard that the color of the blinking satellite will change to green. Will that happen? or will it just stop blinking once the lock is obtained?
