Galaxy Mini keeps restarting

Joxo

Lurker
I recently installed Cyanogen mod on my phone, and it didn't have the Memo app, so I downloaded one from 4shared, not sure if it's from Galaxy Mini or some other phone, and then moved the .apk to /system/app/. Then I had to restart my phone so it can be installed, but instead, when it gets to the cyanogen animation, the one with the circles, it just keeps looping that animation. So do you know what could be going on, or how can I access the adb or something else so I can delete the Memo app?

Reflash the ROM - that will overwrite /system and hence delete the app. No need to wipe, as it's the same ROM you are installing.

It's good practice to take a nandroid backup before messing with /system.

No, it won't affect user apps, only changes you have made to /system.

"Wipe data" would however - that wipes the /data partition, which is where user apps and their data live. And it wouldn't solve this problem, since that sounds like a problem with the /system partition.

Ok, thanks a lot, just one more question and I'm on my way. How do I flash it, through recovery by installing the zip file, or through Odin?

I don't know Odin at all - that's a Samsung tool, and mine's an HTC. So I cannot advise on that as I don't know what it does. I always flash a ROM from recovery.

If you'd like advice on flashing a Samsung then I can move the thread to your device's All Things Root subforum, or you can check there for advice?

OK, good luck.

If that doesn't do it then the problem isn't in /system. At that point you may need to consider a wipe (which is why backups before modding are a good thing). But from your description I'm pretty hopeful this will do it.

It worked perfectly, thanks again, I'll try not to mess it up again. Thank you karandpr also for pointing that out, I didn't know that...
