Help Galaxy Note 2 view on TV through HDMI

I am trying to get my phone to play videos on TV, using HDMI adapter. I am doing everything like the guy in this video: Galaxy Note 2 MHL Adaptor output to HDMI TV - Androidizen - YouTube but when I connect everything, my phone starts charging (because the adapter has power) but the TV wont display anything. Can someone help? Do I need to be rooted? Do i need a special app?

Hi

I suspect that's a 5 pin adaptor. You need an 11 pin adaptor for the note 2.

As stated, you might have a 5 pin connector which is why it doesn't work. You don't need to get a new MHL adapter. Just look for a 5 pin to 11 pin converter/adapter head and it'll be fine.

I've just bought a similar cable and at first connected everything up but nothing on the TV.

After a few seconds and after I'd selected the correct HDMI channel on my TV it was all working fine.

Didn't need any additional cables. If its still not working do you have another HDMI cable to try or even spare port on your TV ?

Should work fine though
