Help Galaxy Note 4 Email Push issue

Hi guys, recent IOS to Android convert! Anyway, I just bought myself a Note 4 from AT&T and I setup my email (Stock) with my Gmail account. Everything was working fine the first day, but now I notice I don't get pushed email, if I click on the email app and hit the refresh they all come in. My settings are correct, at least I believe they are, Syncing is set to Push Automatic, as well as Push Automatic for "peak" I did the settings automatically the first time and the second time all manual to see if it would be a fix, at first it did, then quickly stopped again, my gmail is set to IMAP enabled with POP disabled, I have icloud email and a school email address forwarded to gmail as well. I decided to try it with WIFI and on just cellular data, it eventually comes in but after a long time over 30 minutes at the earliest. I'm not sure what is wrong, coming from an iPhone the emails came in automatically without delay, sometimes actually quicker than on the gmail web version. Any help is appreciated, I'm not sure what else to post about my situation but questions are welcomed.

Just to clarify, are you using the stock email app to check your Gmail?
I don't do this, I let the Gmail app handle Gmail email, the Yahoo app handles my Yahoo email, and the stock app does my work email.

With the stock email app, I set it to synch every 15 minutes. Not sure that it works on a "push" method, but maybe it does, and I just don't know.

Edit:

Using the Gmail and Yahoo apps, I get consistent email pushes.

Yes I am using the stock email app on the Note 4. The stock email app does have a "push" setting. I did IT before and yes for your work email (assuming it is exchange) it should always use push (active sync), you can change it to every 15, 30 etc. The problem I have is that it did work, now it just lags, rarely I will get an email under 5-10 minutes. Sometimes an hour pass and it isn't updated. ** as an update, I looked at my sync and "the period to sync email" setting is set to "all" emails and I had set the "limit retrieval size" option set to "no limit", I just changed it to "1 month" and "50kb", still no change a couple of emails sent about 20 minutes ago haven't reached my phone, yet gmail web shows them. Thanks

Yes, I have used the gmail app. The reason I want the email app to work is because it syncs with the Samsung gear S. When the emails come in the timestamp on them are sometimes actually earlier than the ones on the gmail app. Also I find under my home WiFi is where the delays usually happen, when I'm out and under mobile data, they come in almost instantly. Any idea if there is a particular setting for WiFi sleeping? I don't have any power savings sEttinger activated. Thank you for all the replies!
