Galaxy Note 4-Wearables

I just bought a galaxy note 4 coming from an iPhone 6, I was wondering which if any android watch you would recommend and why.

Thanks in advance

Owning both ANDROID WEAR & SAMSUNG GEAR devices, I'd take a look @ both before making any decision.

For my personal preference, the GEAR2 is a much better option than any Smartwatch available. It does everything an ANDROID WEAR device is capable of, plus, it has a built-in IR BLASTER, Camera, & has a mic/speaker which enables you to take phone calls directly through the watch via BLUETOOTH.
Of course , the GEAR S is a cool Smartwatch as well, but, that's a different class of its own, w/a SIM Card & ability to make phone calls independent of the phone.......

I just purchased a Gear 2 Neo. I was not sure if I would like it or not, but I am finding it useful. Good battery life, versatile, and it looks nice as well. Still not sure that I'm going to keep it, but it might be one of those things that the more you use it, the better it gets.

I too have the Gear 2 Neo and like it.
I personally wouldn't want a Google smartwatch because of how the handle notificatios. Swipe and they are gone, forever - unlike the Gear 2 which holds them until you intentionally delete them. Much nice for texts and whatnot, read them over and over again if you'd like.

Gear S for me. I like not having my Note 4 around sometimes and yet still being connected. Also, being able to make a call and text is vital when needed. Plus, I like the way it looks. CON? It's a little pricey.

I have long maintained the position that Smartwatches are a fad, rather gimmicky and simply a waste.

OK... OK... true confessions? I'm LYING to MYSELF!

WoooHooo it didn't work, yes I failed at convincing myself I could look the other way. Yea and I drink drain oil out of my car with every meal :) :) :)

After reading your posts and others I'm caving in rapidly, days of a naked wrist are coming to an end!

It's actually worth the price of admission just for the notifications alone...........

Excellent point, one I had dismissed too quickly. Considering all the activity that comes in via Androids wonderful notification system, I can see the advantage quite clearly now.

Now, educate me please.

The only "features" I'd like to avoid are health focused. I'm heavily invested in great heart rate, pressure, oxygen uptake gear I use training, cycling, in the gym. So I'd much rather not duplicate that.

I'm not price sensitive, a Watch that is pure Tech/Android oriented would be my preference. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks :)

I'm partial to the SAMSUNG line-up myself, especially the GEAR (TIZEN) line.

They can be hacked to work (about 80% functionality) w/rooted Non-SAMSUNG devices.(not sure about the new stand-alone watch, the GEAR S)

If that's OK,venture over to XDA & see what's happening in that arena.

I'm also partial to the square/rectangle form factor.

Again,I think SAMSUNG has everyone beat in that dept. & the GEAR LIVE (ANDROID WEAR O/S)would be what I'd recommend.

ANDROID WEAR devices are centered on notifications, even though the SAMSUNG GEAR LIVE has a sensor of some sort (heartrate monitor).

The GEAR 2 is more of a Swiss Army knife.Cool stuff, but, may have more than what you need.Does have the ability to use any 22mm band off-the-shelf.(Got a matching rose gold colored stainless band on mine, looks sharp!)

If it were me & I had no Smartwatches & a SAMSUNG daily driver,I'd get the GEAR S.

However,in your situation,I'd get the GEAR LIVE or LG G WATCH as they're compatible w/all of your phones right out-of-the-box.

Also, the LG G WATCH has ability to use any watchband you please (22mm),got a black stainless band on my G WATCH,looks very sharp, suitable for every occasion.

Well I've been on the fence on getting a wearable. However its been a couple of years now and there are more options out there. So what is the best overall wearable nowadays anyway? Maybe there will be some black friday deals out next week.

I just can't see myself going back. I stopped wearing wrist watches 15-20 years ago when I started carrying a cellphone with a clock on it everywhere I went.

Have we really reached that point in our society where it is so hard to reach for our mobile phone to check the time, answer a call, read a message, etc that we need a small Dick Tracy device on our wrist?

Not that I don't think the idea is cool, I do. I just don't see any practical application for it in my own life.

This is one reason why I never got one, but am debating now because of good reviews and to give it a try. I wear watches almost always. My thing is you'll get these notifications on the watch but I feel like I'm almost always going to pull my phone out to respond or see more detail. As a guy, I always keep my phone in my pocket. For a female, most keep their phones in their bags so I can understand that point of view where they don't have to take their phone out of their bag and just relay on the watch for notificaitons. But for a guy, the phone is always in your pocket. Again I'm still debating so we'll see.

I really want a smart watch, but I think I'm going to wait for the next generation. There seems to be a deal breaker with all of the current choices.

theres always the next generation....just around the corner!

I've just ordered the zenwatch. Not liking any of the current batch from the rest.

I too decided they were a fad and not worth buying into....!!!

Anyone have a Moto 360 or G Watch R that they use with the Note 4? I have been wanting one for a while, but want the sleeker look of the round face so I'm looking for recommendations.

I wear a Moto 360 paired to my Note 4 and its all good. Connectivity seems excellent and battery drain is minimal. I actually was lucky to pick up a 360 fairly early and yeah maybe it is a little gimmicky but I enjoy wearing it.

I've switched over to metal wrist straps. I haven't seen a watch that interests me yet. Perhaps next year, we'll have wearable technology with a metal strap.
