Hi guys

I have just brought the galaxy note and it will be with me tomorrow, i have an issue though, my current phone HTC 7 PRO has been setup up so i can get my email for 2 different email accounts 1 msn.com and 1 hotamil.

can i set this phone so i can get my emails from my msn and hotmail?

if yes how do i set it up

thanks for any help.

Assuming you access your accounts via pop or imap it should be quite easy. Just open the email client (where I assume that you have already added one account), click on the name of that account (should be in the top left corner) which will take you to the all inboxes screen and press the menu button (left of the home button) and select add account. Repeat as required.

Hope this helps...

Regards,
Eric Ritchie.

thank you for the info,
i am a total nob on phones so i takle it them instruction will be more understandable to me when i get the phone or atleast i hope so lol,

If you are using imap there is a bug in the Gingerbread version of the mail client which means messages can't be permanently deleted but this has been fixed in the Ice Cream Sandwich update. I'm running five imap mail accounts plus a gmail account.

thank you for the help and i have managed to setup my 2cemail accounts.
can i have a direct link / icon on the home screen or 1 of the other screens direct to my email accounts. so i would have 1 icon for my hotmail account and aanother for my msn.com account,

thanks for any help

You can have a widget on your home screen which shows you the most recent mails from all accounts, but I don’t know of a way to shortcut to one specific mailbox.

HI GUYS.

I have setup my email accounts but so far i have found it crap i am using the email app that came with the phone and i have added my 2 accounts onto it. problem i am having is that it keeps showing my old emails as new and unread this includes emails from months ago.
does anyone know how to stop this or is there a better app i can use.

This sounds like the Gingerbread stock mail client. The ICS one is a huge improvement.

what do you mean,

I would not know either, but I assume it was an attempt at sarcasm ;)

To answer your question, you will get the ICS version of the mail client when you update to ICS. You may already be able to do this with an OTA update or via kies, assuming that the update is available in your region. You may have to wait for a while if you have a Note from a strange region or, worse, from AT&T.

Eric Ritchie.

Yup - I apologise; sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.

ICS means Ice Cream Sandwich, which is the latest version of the Android Operating System (version 4). Until recently all Notes were running Android 3, called Gingerbread.

The roll out of ICS has been gradual over the last month or so, depending on the location ID of each Note and whether or not the device is an un-branded on or if it's a telco-branded one (branded phones received updates later in general).

You can only get the new mail client by getting the new version of the OS. If you haven't yet had a notification to update from Gingerbread to ICS you could try the unofficial route and find a copy of ICS for the Note and install it - there are various ways of doing this, but I personally would wait until the official release reaches your phone.
