Help Galaxy Note GT N-7000 update to 2.3.6

Hey guys.

I am new to this forum and would appreciate some assistance.

I am teying to update my Note's Firmware to 2.3.6 and am having a lot of difficulty in doing it. I am using Kies and as soon as the update is downloaded and the upgrade should start I get an unknown error. I spoke the the support at Samsung and they said I should reset my device to factory default and try the update again. Followed these steps but nothing seems to help.

Is there an expert around here who can assist me. I will apreciate any help.

PS: I am a noob at the android enviroment...

I'm no expert, but I am wondering if you can try updating without using kies?

What if you just use the phones built in Software Update feature?

You need a wi-fi connection for it to work... That's how I did mine.

I've never used Kies to update, only the phones wi-fi software updater.

Thx for the reply, but as soon as I use the phones built-in updater it does not detect an update. But with kies is detects a firmware update. That is why I'm so baffled about the update.

Is your phone connected to a wifi connection when you try and update it over the air?

OT but what is kies actually for?
