Help Galaxy Pocket Vibrating

Azonic

Lurker
Hi all.

I purchased a second-hand Galaxy Pocket from a lady for a good price. Physically nothing wrong with the phone. I have a Note 4 and only bought this for the GPS for tracking hiking and other sport activities.

The Play Store wouldn't load (crashed) so I decided to factory reset the phone and flash the stock ROM back on.

I found the newest stock ROM for South Africa (XFA) and flashed it on without a problem using ODIN.

Then the problem starts.

The phone then tells you that Google Play Services is required to run some apps. Right, so I allow it to install Google Play Services.

The second it finishes with that install, the phone starts to give random vibrations. 1, pause, then 2 quick ones. Nothing for 5 to 10 seconds then it goes again... humm... humm humm... Non stop.

Uninstall Google Play Services and the vibrating stops - but then no apps want to work.

Anyone ever encountered something like this? If not... is there another ROM/Firmware/CyanogenMod or whatever I can use that will still allow me to install apps? Even if I have to get the APK's and install them manually.

Thanks all!

When I open the one app I loaded (Sports Tracker), it tells you that Google Play Services is required with a button that says something in the line of "Get it now" or "download" or similar. When I click it it takes me to the play store and it lets you install it like any app would install. It loads version 9.5.something, I can't recall now. I see the latest Google Play Services is past version 10 already. I got the latest APK for Gingerbread, the nodpi version and tried to load it but it didn't want to install.

I don't think so to be honest. Apart from using ODIN to flash a stock rom I'm a complete noob with Android flashing.

I have read stacks of instructions on how to do and flash various stuff and it all just orgies of abbreviations I have no idea what they mean. Its like the bloggers and writers write they instructions thinking the reader knows exactly what every abbreviation means.
