Help Galaxy portal prob - please help

Ok here goes,

I have a problem with my galaxy portal running 2.1 where most of the time when i try and make a call it just sits at the dialing screen and dont connect, now i have to re-dial the number 3-4 times before it connects.

I can put my sim in my nokia and it works fine every time so its deffo the samsung.

Could it be an app i have installed? or anyone have any other ideas?

How do i do this? and do i need to remove the sim and memory cards?
