Galaxy S 2 will not charge

Hi All,

About 4 weeks ago on the way home from a weekend away my battery went dead on my GS2.
When I got home the phone did not respond when I plugged into the wall charger, I tried the usb connection through my computer but still no response.
I thought it may somehow have got water damaged so dried it out for a couple of days but still no response.

I then bought an external charging device to charge the battery, which proved successful however I still cannot charge the phone through the micro usb port.

I brought the phone to one of the repair kiosks in westfields to get the usb port replaced presuming I had damaged it somehow but again this proved to be unsuccessful.

Interestingly though, when I turn the phone off and back on while the charger is plugged in, the phone will show that it is charger, but the battery still goes down.

I bought a second battery so I could avoid down time through charging the phone using my external charger, which I was getting quite used to, however, last week another issue cropped up.
When my phone rings, the speaker cuts out after a second, this issue also happens when I use the speaker for every other function, i.e youtube, loudspeaker etc.

This issue bothered me so I decided to bring it to Vodafone (something I should have done first day but I didn

My phone started doing this today. I saw the battery was getting low and attached it to the micro usb charger. Got a phone call but let it go to voicemail. After about three hours I went to return the phone call and check some other items, and the battery life indicator was less than when I'd plugged it in. And there was no upward moving arrow showing that it was charging.

Still nothing after 5 hours. I did do a factory update yesterday, so some software could have been corrupted then because the whole process didn't go through...but I'm not sure.

I've read a few of the other threads about taking the battery out, hitting volume, power and home...but that didn't do anything either.

Should I just take it in for servicing?

Obviously it's a hardware flaw

Actually, I'm wondering if it is the adapter that I'm using. It is the factory adaptor for my palm pre; and has been working for months. I left the phone on overnight til the battery was completely drained (but would still turn on briefly). I plugged it into my car charger and it started charging immediately. Haven't tried it with the wall adapter again, but that's my next step.

Always use the adaptor supplied with the device.

S2's battery packs a lot of power, you need a good adapter to charge it well.

Kicksilver's right. The charger that came with the phone is likely a 5v, 1amp, unit. I've got 5 other usb chargers that have the same micro-usb plug. Most won't work to charge my unit...only the ones rated above 800ma work.
