Galaxy S Blaze ICS prep

I have the Galaxy S Blaze, which I love, except for not being able to disable bloatware, which is a feature I am looking forward to being able to do once this phone gets ICS, as I have read it allows the disabling of bloatware.

Is it necessary for me to have all the OS Gingerbread updates on my phone in order to be able to use ICS? Reason I ask is because the updates are labeled as "preparation for ICS update" or something like that, as if they are required.

I was happy with the phone (except for bloatware), so I didn't do any updates, and was just wanting to wait for ICS.

Any idea when ICS will be released for this phone? Tmobile is my carrier.

Personally if i know bloatware, you will need to root the phone to actually get rid of it, otherwise you can't delete it. The carrier puts it on the phone, and the only way to get it off is an unlock/root.

Sorry :(

And i do not know when ICS will be released, it entirely depends on when T-Mobile will release it.

Thanks.

How ironic, I just saw that today they released ICS for it.

Support: Software update: Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G

So my question is will I need to do it manually since my gingerbread didn't have the updates to "prepare it for ics"?

Hey!
I just upgraded by blaze to ICS but it looks exactly the same. There are no usual feature of ICS? Has anyone else done it? Are you having similar experience?

ICS won't change the look of your phone mainly because it will keep the TouchWiz skin. The biggest changes you will see (at least what I saw when I updated) is that instead of the usual 2GB limit for apps + internal SD, you now have the entire internal SD available for apps. There will also be a general improvement in performance (smoother and faster everywhere), and more locking options (face unlock).
