Help Galaxy S display really excessive battery drain

Do you have wifi on or do you use the gallery a lot?
Gallery is a batterydrainer by itself.

But wifi uses more battery i've noticed

I've noted that at work my wifi doesn't seem to sleep (even though I have the 'sleep when screen turns off' option selected). Also it may be because of a slightly higher usage over the last 2 days since I did a factory reset when I put 2.2.1 on.

In the battery status is shows screen as taking most of the power and wifi/android at roughly 2% each.

In my post just above, I "assumed" that all knew that I had turned OFF every other feature, especially GPS, WiFi, in addition to Background Data & Sync modes, and made sure the screen went to sleep,, for bed time. etc...

Both Yahoo and Gmail bitch at me for that.....

I'm having exactly the same problem. Although admittedly other parts of the phone can be draining battery i.e. Background data and auto sync, in the battery use page they are never mentioned as a cause, is this a glitch?

Never the less, the Display does seem to be most responsible for my battery drain, after about 12 hours unplugged, my battery was almost flat (below 5%) display responsible for 83% of battery drain at just 1 hour 15mins use.

As a quick experiment, when the battery was at around 25%, I kept the display on for about 20mins and sure enough the battery % fell by just under 20%. My screen brightness is at the very minimum.

Is this normal? Or should I be calling Samsung for a new battery? Its very disappointing having to make unreasonable compromises on such a cool phone thats only 1month old

have you updated to android 2.2.1 yet?

Also something to help https://market.android.com/details?id=com.latedroid.juicedefender

this wil keep battery life up but a display always drains a lot of energy. It's a big screen.

And a tip for the battery, once in a while compleatley charge to 100% and drain to 0% thats good for the battery.
Dont charge the phone when battery is at 100%
