Help Galaxy S hangs daily

Hi All,

I bought the Galaxy S a month back with lots of hopes but it is really time consuming to maintain it.

Every day the device hangs up. Screen shows the latest menus I was working on it but does not respond at all. Then I have to remove back panel, take out battery and again install it and start the phone.

What could be the problem? Are there any Settings which went wrong? Or any manufacturing defect?

PLEASE HELP

I am FRUSTATED with this problem now

Can anybody tell where exactly the problem could be? Am I wrong in any settings? Or to blame Samsung/Android????

hmmmm, sounds like a factory reset might be in order - Settings, Privacy, Factory reset (you will lose your data, so backup).

Could also try updating to latest firmware on Kies (assuming your not already on it).

I seem to have a similar problem as Mansaw...

My i9000 (android 2.2.1) crashes daily now. My phone was working perfectly fine for 6 months. Then it started crashing... most of the times I didn't even know what happened because it crashed when I was asleep etc. I had to do a hard reset every time to get my phone working again.
I noticed several times that I got some "Forced close" messages while using my phone, where after the system shut down and I had to hard reset my phone to get things started again.
Every time I reboot my phone after one of these crashes, I lose all my contacts and menu settings, which is very annoying.
Also, after resetting, when I press the power button, most of the functions (like silent mode and airplane mode) seem to be missing.

I tried doing a factory reset, but this didn't solve the problem :(

Does any of you have the same problem or have a solution? I really don't know what to do anymore.

I have similar problems. For months I've had problems with my phone either freezing, requiring battery removal, or less irritating, it reboots itself on its own. I've gradually upgraded my firmware as it was released from 2.2 to 2.3.5, and I always do a factory reset when I upgrade.

It starts out doing it once every week or two, and gradually deteriorates. When it gets to the stage where it's doing it every day and it's doing my head in I factory reset it, which improves matters but never seems to totally cure it.

I've tried not re-installing my apps, and installing them one or two at a time to try and identify if there's a rogue one. I've monitored the phone with System Panel, and I've trawled the internet, but I still have no clue why it's happening. I can't send it in for a repair because if they can't replicate the fault I'm concerned they'd just send it back and tell me it's okay.

Would love to hear from anybody who's successfully managed to diagnose this.
