Help galaxy s: incessant ringing ...

randyv

Lurker
HI everyone,

Could not find an answer online (although evidently something similar happening to "zio's" - no answer given though).

My phone is ringing incessantly (an electronic ring-a-ling-a-ling sound). Yesterday a reboot solved it, but today that did not do the trick. It gets muted a bit if I have an incoming or outgoing call, but never stops. I tried removing the sim card, but that did nothing. Right now I have the phone muted, but that is obviously not a long term solution.

I guess the next step is a factory reset, but what exactly do I lose when I do that? All my contacts are wiped out? All saved emails? All recipes I have saved?

UPDATE: after I started posting this, I rebooted again (still ringing) but once I pulled down the drop-down menu from the top of the phone, it stopped.

I also uninstalled Zedge, hoping that would help (I have recently changed my ringtone and email notification tone), but that seemed to do nothing.

Thanks,
Randy
