Hey all.
This is my first time joining a forum so please play nice
Only recently, I have just started to receive spam advertising on my phone in the notification alerts bar. I think this must of been from an application I installed.. However I am pretty sure I had promptly removed the app I installed but I am still receiving advertisements, in particular 2 sites.
zouk88.com - It keeps showing up in my notifications bar about downloading (without my permission and at least once a day!!) this alvin and the chipmunks soundtrack, if I go into downloads and select it, the only option it gives me is to install it as an application which I obviously do not want to do!! The interesting note as well is that it still managed to "download" it even when I turned Wifi and my 3G off (data packet)
I possibly thought it had to do with an app game called "slice it" as it kept trying to load up to this site in particular when I was in the middle of playing this game (uninstalled this app) without any prompt. But it still continues.
The other site is livingsocial and sends me notifications saying get up to 90% off deals (& sh..)
How do I stop this? It is very frustrating
, I am thinking I may have to resort to resetting my phone back to factory settings and erasing everything but it seems a bit extreme. I am not exactly sure how to monitor my apps properly, i.e trying to find out what the issue is or what app may have caused this.
What I am worried about is that I may of uninstalled the application but it may of installed something on my phone that I can't remove
Any advice would be great!! I love my phone to pieces
! I just hate spam crap, especially on personal devices!
I have heard you can get malicious apps, how do I be weary of this?
