I want to use my own message tone which I have on my phone as an mp3 file but cannot find out how to get it into the message notifacation list anyone know how to do this ?

On your internal SD storage, create the string of folder media/audio/notifications
Put the files you want to use as your message ringtones into the notification folder. After that restart your phone. The files should now be on the list.
