Help Galaxy S undocumented brightness adjust

Has anyone else noticed that if you slide the status bar menu down, then without taking your finger off the screen, slide it back onto the status bar at the top, it adjusts screen brightness?

Returning to the left side of the status bar sets lowest brightness, returning to the right side sets highest.

Yes, its fairly well known - but only works if not on auto brightness.

You dont have to slide it down and then back up either. Just swipe the top part of your screen towards the left to decrease brightness and swipe towards right to increase brightness.
