Help Galaxy S: Uploading via web browser

Hi guys, first time poster here.

Believe me I have searched for this topic, found related threads a few months old but nothing conclusive, so I will refresh the topic.

Got my Galaxy S running Froyo 2.2 XFJP9 having trouble uploading standard word .doc documents via web browser. To be more specific, it is a job website and I am trying to upload my CV and Cover Letter.

I select "Select File", it prompts to use one of the following apps: ES File Explorer, Gallery, Sound Recorder. I select ES FE, select my word document and it just hangs, loads forever.
Tried it on a Wi-Fi connection, this time it brings back an error saying "Invalid file format, only .doc .docx .txt etc accepted. The word document is DEFINITELY a .doc document. I have even opened it on the phone.

Is uploading via web browser still denied in this firmware? Thanks for all replies.

Since the phone directory format is different than one on a computer, not all websites can recognize files uploaded from a phone, sometimes websites need to launch a plug-in to do a file transfer since HTML does not support it, and these plug-ins don't run on a mobile browser.
