galaxy s vs desire vs iphone 4

Richard, we must have the same line as work....

I personally own an iPhone 4, Captivate, HTC Incredible. Incredible is pretty much the same as the Desire except CDMA. I also have access to Droid X, Evo, and original Droid. I had a Nexus One and G1 prior.

I prefer a rooted/unlocked Captivated Galaxy S to anything out there in Android. With ADW/Launcher pro, it is fast. The only thing I miss on it is the optical trackball. Yes, the GPS is wonky as hell. The media player on it rules. It has a superior audio DAC and I love the fact it plays almost any video file I throw at it. Camera/Camcorder is very close to the Iphone's quality.

Having said that, the IP4 is my primary device. Until Android offers me group VPN, a superior SSH client,a superior mySQL client, a superior, VNC/RDP app, I am using the iPhone 4 solely for work. The Android devices are left to tinkering. Also, the iP4's camera and HD recording is mouth watering tasty, chock full of goodness.

As for the Incredible, I am waiting for Froyo today to see if it still merits any of my attention.

Yea I love to tinker with the Androids. I am trying to get a Captivate in for testing. I use the iPhone for both work and play and would not replace it with anything currently out. Im not a huge tweaker so have not gotten into rooting etc.

I also heavily support Blackberrys/BES and am concerned about RIMs future. They have great security and keyboard but there is no WOW factor as compared to what is out there. Im testing the Torch and that thing is a joke. Also RIM just doesn't have the apps.

Are you in love with Google? Do you like to adjust and play with and modify things on your phone or do you just want something simple and reliable that requires no maintenance?

If the first, go for Android. If the second, go for the iPhone.

My T-mobile Rep at the store rooted mine and installed the lag fix, and the gps fix and the phone is crazy fast. Go with the Vibrant

A T-mobile store rep rooted your phone for you? lol, that's awesome! I wonder how T-mobile feels about that?

Don't get the Samsung, because:
1) The UI is not as good as HTC Sense
2) GPS does NOT work ok
3) Samsung has a reputation to "forget" about the devices once they ship, so the chance for them to update the phone software are very slim

Don't get the iPhone because:
1) Everybody keeps talking about bad reception and lose of signal.
If it weren't for this and I had the money to spend, I would probably go for it, but I am not entirely sure, since Desire is soooo good ;)

Get the Desire because:
1) GPS works flawlessly
2) The UI - HTC Sense is IMHO the best GUI on Android platform at the moment
3) When Froyo (Android 2.2) came out, it took HTC about a month and half to make the software update :)
4) There are so few bugs on this phone and it's a real pleasure to use!
