Galaxy S2 battery problem

First of all I would like to mention that I have searched this forum for an answer, but didn't find one.

Here is my problem: I have a 3 week old Galaxy S2 and its only problem is that sometimes it's consuming battery like hell. I noticed there are 2 phases. First it consumes just a bit, something like 10% in 6-7 hours, which is very good, but other times, even while staying on idle, it drains like 15%-20% per hour. This usually occurs after I use it (play games, navigate on the internet) and it doesn't stop until the battery dies. It's not just one application that causes it. I always make sure that all the applications are shut down correctly and I have also tried battery saving applications, but none work. I suspect there might be a process/service that is draining my battery that much, but I couldn't find out which one.
I'm sure I'm not the only one with such problems.

Also, I'm in search of an application that blocks auto-starting applications that run in background.

Hello,

Simple question: have you checked the battery use?

Menu > Settings > About phone > Battery usage

That will list the main battery hoggers. In your case, look for "Android OS" in that list, click on it and it will show how long it's been using the CPU for. Post that time here, as well as the total time on battery.

Then we can move on to the next steps. Battery draining while idling isn't normal at all.

ps: you don't need to kill anything, just leave it idling. Killing stuff will only drain more battery because it will reload the service/app back into the RAM.

Yes, it has used 2 hours out of my 9 hours the phone was on battery (with one about 40% charge during those hours). Now the OS is at 45%, because I have played on my phone for about an hour, but if I don't play, it usually stays at 75-80%.

Thank you very much for offering to help!

Its seems Samsung's ROMs are bugged. I suffer from this Android OS bug on my Galaxy S1 also, as well as many people out there.

Does your usage graph look similar to this?

This is probably a Kernel issue, something triggers the bug and the system keeps processing something in an endless loop. The only way to temporarily stop it is by rebooting your device.

I reboot my device every other day to prevent this from happening, so I don't get stressed anymore.

At least in my device, "optimal' performance is 1 hour of battery use > 1 minute of Android OS.

So, 10 hours on battery, the Android OS shouldn't be higher than 10 minutes, and so on. If it is, the bug is striking and I reboot the phone, simple as that.

Having similar problems on Samsung Illusion. Previously the Facebook for android app was using up most of my battery. 2minutes of checking status updates (over wifi) would put Facebook at 10-15% of my battery. All was fine yesterday after I removed Facebook. I no longer had to turn off 3G (Facebook was always syncing) but today I reached into my pocket and my phone was hot. I turned the phone off properly and rebooted it after the battery cooled. Then it happened again. Both times show up on my battery usage graph as random drops. Please give me ideas??? Not sure what's killing my battery.

yes, it looks like this, only in 6hours it's almost dead...I've found something about the "Android OS bug" and I think it's happening to me too...do you think a hard restore has chances to solve this? Or maybe another OS...
