Galaxy S2 Live wallpaper problem

Dear Friends,

Bought Galaxy S2 2 weeks ago. Yesterday i connected it to Kies 2.0 n it told me for update so I updated my phone to PDA I9000XWKF3 PHONE I9000DDKE4 CSC I9000DDKF3. Before that live wallpaper was working very fine. But after updated and rooting my phone, I am not able to select live wallpaper under wallpaper option. There is no option for live wallpaper. Does any one know how to get back my live wallpaper option. Done 2 times factory reset but it doesnt help. Any idea?

It's strange since it is a default app. I googled around and you can download the "live wallpaper picker apk" on several sites. My installed version is 2.3.4 maybe you find one that works with your galaxy s2. Hope that helped :cool:http://rapidshare.com/files/398540016/Live_Wallpaper_Picker_2.1.apk

Tried to install live wallpaper picker apk but it is saying that could not be installed.. Wat could be the reason? Does this problem be related to unsecure kernal which was used while rooting the phone?

Have you got the "unknown sources allowed" ticked in your application settings? You say you rooted, what ROM are you on, Stock or custom? You might be right, that it could be the kernel, but then hopefully some other people may be willing to help you further since I am no expert. (people are really nice on these forums, I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction). What does it say under settings - about this phone - scroll way down?

Since you are about to start all over again, you might wanna consider installing VillainRom or Cognition S2.

Yes, "unknown sources allowed" is ticked on. I am on a stock Rom. Under settings - about this phone are following values.
Model Number- GT-I9100
Android Version- 2.3.3
Baseband version- I9100DDKE4
Kernal version- 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKF3-CL276555 root@DELL101#2
Build number- GINGERBREAD.XWKF3
PDA, CSC, PHONE values are already posted in previous post. Let me know if any other info you require.

No, I dont want to go for custom ROM right now. Will definitely try them but at later stage.

I have one question. Does factory reset dont default the kernal also?

I think the update itself is having problem. Can any one from India having same version throw some light on issue?

If Kernal is the issue, unrooting and rooting again with unsecure kernal (XWDD1 or something like that) can solve the problem? One more question. If my current versions are as per above, but if i flash kernal of some different version (say XWDD1 or XWKE3 etc..), can it create any problem?

I know I have asked so many questions and are may be noob also, but I have come from Win Mo n this is my first Android phone.

If someone here would help the it will be really appreaciated.

Posted same on XDA also but till now couldnt get any proper response.

Thanks for reading..

one more thing i would like to add. I have downloaded from google the livewallpapers.apk file which people are using to install gs2 live wallpapers to be used with other android devices. But when i tried to install that apk file in the end i m getting message that application not installed. I hv ticked that option in settins which allow to install applications from the othrr sources. So whst is the problem? I think i'll have to wait for next 2.3.4 update.

Finally thinking of flashing to latest official firmware for india through odin as kies is showing as updated. So where to find the latest csc, pda, phone, kernal files n how to flash using odin? Also do i need to unroot my phone before update?

You should have a look here http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-...guide-updated-12-00-pm-bst-jul-03-2011-a.html

There you have a list of roms and can pick what you need. There's also a thread about how to go back to how the phone was at the beginning, so maybe you should have a good read through there :) I do believe that when you flash a stock rom over the rooted one you loose root, but can always gain it back by flashing another rooted rom. So no you don't have to unroot before flashing stock. Please feel free to ask if you get stuck ;)

here the list for generic roms, also India is there http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278

Hey, thank you very much retrorom. Checking the link you have provided. Will update later after seeing the thread.

You are welcome ;)
All credits and thanks should go to SLUG, one of the moderators on these forums. He put all these useful links together.

Another thing, please look around at the "all things root" threads, you probably find a lot of answers there. Enjoy the best phone available to date ;)

Hey Retrorom, thanks a lot man.. I got my live wallpaper working. Flashed manually by odin downloading my firmware and it worked. Thanks to all of you who helped me..
