Galaxy S2 Performance

The best phone within my budget is the galaxy s2 and i was wondering if it will receive the jelly bean update and could play games for devs like gameloft and ea for the next year or so?

Heck, my Galaxy S still plays some of the newer games from Gameloft right now so yes the SII can play those games. The SII will still be a mid-range spec'd device next year so it will be ok. Dual-core still isn't even the norm anyway. A lot of single core phones are still being released.

Thanks but it it really worth buying into a contarct for 2 years when the phone itself is 18 monthss old?

Yes and No. It's still a solid device and will last. The JB update has been hinted at on many sites. However, on a carrier like T-Mobile, the GS2 costs $200 on contract, the GS3 is $230. Spend the extra money for the current generation device if you're a techie.

tbh all i want it for is gaming and internet am not too bothered about having the latest version and just hope its still capable of running top end games even in a years time

In 2 years, well, yeah the GS2 may not be able to run top of the top end games anymore, or if still compatible you may experience lag. That's about it. The only thing limiting you from buying better is that you can't afford better. So is there really any reason not to buy the GS2, when its the best you can get? Worrying about whether or not it can play games in 2 years time is pointless when you can't afford something that can. If you can get something better then go for it, but there's really nothing to worry about here as far as I can see.
