Galaxy S2: PIN Code protection & Broken Screen

Hello All

This is my 1st post on this forum.

I have the following problem: I broke LCD screen on my S2, but the phone is working fine in general. The problem is that I enabled security of my phone using the PIN code(not pattern). I have purchased a new phone from my carrier(s5), and now I would like to copy data(pictures mainly) from the damaged Galaxy S2, but since the phone is locked with PIN, and I cant unlock it via touch-screen due to broken screen (despite I know the PIN) I am unable to copy my data into my PC (Windows using USB cable) because my PC doesnt detect phone disk drives if the phone is locked / PIN is not entered). Any help? For the moment the only solution I see is to replace the LCD with new spare part, and enter this damn PIN code in order Windows can "see" the Android and then I can copy data? Pls help!

Wow, that's a bummer!!! :(

Doesn't the Galaxy S2 have a removable SD card? Generally all of the user data (including pictures) is stored there by default. I might be wrong, but I thought the S2 used an SD card...

If that is the case, this should be as simple as removing the sd card and using it with a card reader on your pc or in another device.

If there is no removable storage, a couple of threads that you might check out are:

and

http://androidforums.com/faqs/697582-backup-routine-us-all.html

I'm not sure that in your case they will help, but if you happen to have usb debugging enabled already, the backup routine might do the trick.

Also, if you had set up android device manager you should be able to change your lockscreen password online. Perhaps if part of your screen functions, you could change the password to a character that you can actually use on the keyboard??

Hello

Thanks for quick reply. I was using the SD card, but it was full and due to my lazyness, I didnt had time to clean it. So the phone was actually saving images to internal memory (on-chip) that had still some free space. The LCD is completely unusable (cracked in few areas). And I was not using Android Manager unfortunatelly...

I am trying now to do it via SDK.?

The SDK method won't work unless you have USB debugging enabled. So unless you had done that previously, I'm pretty sure you can't enable it without access the phone's settings.

Otherwise, I can't think of anything else other than what was in my last post.

I've installed KIES, it has detected phone but it says please unlock the screen using device. It is not possible to enter PIN via KIES. No luck...

Do you happen to have a Samsung Dive account? It is similar to Google's Android Device Manager, but I read that you can unlock the phone using it. It would have had to be set up previously though.

If USB Debugging had been enabled and left on before, the adb backup routine should bypass all of that. You should be able to pull files from the device so long as you can use adb.
