Root Galaxy S2 Root

I have been trying to root this phone a couple of times with out success I Am using instructions from XDA I put the ROM on the SD card of the phone, I reboot into recovery connect it to ODIN. ODIN is set up how it says with CWM. it recognizes the phone....

The phone is running Android 2.3.6 and GINGERBREAD.UCLA3

the first time I tried rooting this phone it had 4.0.1 ICS on it but this one now is a replacement. I couldn't get ODIN to recognize it at all when reboot into recovery

You didn't say which S2 it was but I assume (from the link) it's SGH-I727 or SGH-I727R.
