Help Galaxy S2 won't connect to PC

Lurker
Had a problem a few people seem to have had, where my Win 7 machine had 2 auto play entries for my S2 (GT-I9100). I tried to find the registry keys for it as lots of solutions said, but there wasn't anything where everyone said there should be.

I got pretty desperate and ended up doing a search and destroy in my registry for anything with GT-I9100, Samsung, Android, etc., and finally got rid of it. Yay!

But when I plugged it back in again, the PC still didn't pick up that the phone was there.

The micro-USB to USB CABLE I'm using is fine, it passes data for other devices and the phone can even draw power through it.

Any advice?

I'm of the firm belief that Samsung has built in a self-destruct mode after a certain period of time. Just kidding...
Seems that many multitudes of people have a similar problem. The main crux is that your/our computer no longer recognizes nor can connect to our SSGSII. There are dozens of reasons as to WHAT is happening but very few answers as to WHY or HOW to solve it. I've tried almost every solution I've found short of factory re-setting the phone. From what I've read that's not going to help either. :stupido:

I think it needs to be pointed out that my SSGTab2 does NOT have these problems nor do I have to use useless KIES garbage to transfer files
