Help Galaxy S3 Backup Question

grkmnl

Newbie
Hi there,

I haven't had much luck with Skies software on my pc for backing up my S3. For some reason, it never detects my phone when I connect it.

I know that my contacts, calendar, mail etc. are backed up on google, but my question is regarding apps.

For example, I was a BB and iP4 user before my S3. Whenever I backed up my phone, it backed up text messages, app settins, content (i.e., my password keeper app kept all the info in it when I restored) etc.

So other than Skies, what else can I use to "back up phone data"? I heard some people use dropbox, but I haven't found much info about it.

I'd appreciate all the help please! :)

In the phone settings, you can tell it to back up to google's servers (cant remember where it is on the s3 but on android its under "backup and restore"). then the next time you log into an android device, or after resetting the s3, it will give you the option to download all the apps you had automatically. Its not really a backup of the apps, more of a backup of which apps you had. If you dont wana root the phone, check out the app Helium. It uses your pc to back up apps and their data so you get them back exactly how they were with settings, game progress etc intact

Dropbox can automatically save all your pics and you can save other user data to it but not apps unless youre rooted
