Galaxy s3 burnt in screen

Someone please tell me I'm not the only one with this problem? It has entirely changed my perception of oled screens. Never again. I am on my device all day a lot of the time on one app. Not to mention the status bar being an ugly bit of burn as well. But not nearly as bad as seeing some game buttons on your screen 24/7...

I contacted Samsung, they want me to send it to them (not like they would send me a package to send them like HP does with their laptops..) Costing me more money, not to mention not having a device for the quoted month?! I think not. I'll stick with my device and save for an HTC desire 816 thank you very much.

Moved to S3 forum. :)
Never experience burn in on any of my devices, but I have to say yours has likely been well loved and perhaps time to move on? Also, I've had warranty done with a few devices, and Samsung isn't the only one doesn't cover shipping it in.

Woops thx for the move..

And actually my s3 is relatively new. I'm on sprint mvno ;) ik not all companies cover shipping it in, but no device for a month? In this day in age? Lol

My S3 is just over a year old and I'm noticing some status bar ghosting. I'm with you I'll never buy another device with an OLED screen. I have an 11 year old LCD computer monitor that still looks like new.

Did I see that you're with Virgin Mobile?

If so, and if your S3 is less than a year old, you can contact Virgin Mobile directly for warranty replacement. They'll probably make you go through the standard troubleshooting hoops, but they should end up sending you a replacement phone. Once you get the replacement and transfer everything to it, then you can send back the defective phone. (If they don't get the old phone back within a few weeks, your service will be suspended) It's definitely better than waiting for Samsung to send it back!

Can confirm Virgin mobiles warranty process is smooth and I did not have to pay for shipping.

I have a launch S3. I don't remember when it started, but I have music player and SwiftKey buttons burned in. Not sure how it's not driving me crazy, but it's been there for maybe a year. Maybe more.

I had the burned screened. Called verizon. Told the tech that my screen. I have the warrenty, after answering a bunch of questions, Verizon sent me a refurbished S3 and i set back the other phone

I have the burn in issue as well. I usually have Waze on when driving and after a year, I notice burn in images of the Waze screen. My phone is a year and 2 months old now. I do plan to keep it another year or so. Although I do notice the burn in, it does not bother me yet. Still, I would likely not be getting a phone with an AMOLED screen when I upgrade my phone next year.

Uhg I use Waze a lot and figured this will eventually happen. Not looking forward to it.
