Had the Galaxy S3 for a couple of weeks now and it has been great.
One thing, last weekend it started to crash any app when I tried to copy text. ...
It would be great to hear if anyone else has had this as I couldn't find any info about this problem. Or if anyone has some ideas about an easier way to fix this if it becomes more common.
Thanks![]()

1. boot recovery (CWM) > advanced > wipe cache
2. reboot phone > Root Explorer > delete /data/clipbord/*
3. reboot recovery again > advanved > fix permissions
4. reboot phone > it's fine

apologies for being dumb; how do I boot recovery (CWM)?
EDIT: ok so JFGI: i rooted my phone using http www androidauthority com/galaxy-s3-gt-i9300-root-clockworkmod-recovery-95849/
then booted into recovery following instructions:
Hold Press Volume Up +Home Button + Power Button (note: press this 3 button in the same time). Releases this 3 button when you get the Samsung Galaxy S3 Text Display on the screen. Now you will boot into CWM Recovery Mode.
then could only wipe 'dalvnic' cache (can't remember if dalvnic is sp right here)
so i wiped it...
then i bought root explorer from play store to find the folder in question...
and finally 90 minutes later... it worked... i can copy n paste again.
thanks

Hey guys, I've read the whole thread hoping at the end of each page that the next one would announce me that a fix has been issued.. but no.
Yesterday I've encountered the same problem as you apparently all did. For me it began when I started to use Chrome, and at the beginning I only noticed that from time to time the copy wouldn't happen properly (I copied, then when I try to paste there's nothing), but I only needed to do it another time and then it was ok. Then suddenly it went totally wrong and any application would crash if I tried to copy something. But that first happened while I was using...Boat mini (I didn't imagine this could be a problem with the phone, I assumed it was a small bug in Chrome since you can expect this kind of small hitches occurring in a beta version, so I had just started to use Boat to solve this problem).
Anyway, I use copy/paste a lot (online articles -> dictionary application), so I didn't have the choice but to do a factory reset.. and then did few experiences to avoid that problem happening again.
I've noticed that when you copy several things, they ALL stay in the clipboard even after you restart the phone (!). You can check that in the S note apply or with the samsung keyboard: long touch, and select the clipboard icon.
I really don't understand how samsung hasn't find a solution for that already.. it really seems simple to just empty the clipboard for each time you copy something new.. I know it also can be handy to keep a few things in it, but I think most of the people don't use that function anyway, especially since the "clipboard" option doesn't appear in most of the applications and keyboards.
Of course ideally they should rewrite their copy/paste program so that it doesn't crash once full but just delete the oldest entries but.. they don't seem capable of it (!!).
I've tried the "clear cache" application but it doesn't clear anything..
My solution for now is the "clipper" application that allows you to clear the clipboard, even automatically..if you buy the clipper plus version.
I would recommend every person like me who has done a FR (such a pain in the ass seriously..) to use this application and clear their clipboard regularly to avoid having to do a FR again.. But again, that's still not really what one would call a "solution".
For the persons who are still struggling with this problem and haven't done a FR yet, have a try and use clipper, see if you can clear the clipboard with it!
Edit: Clipper doesn't work... The last version of "clipboard cleaner" seems to work on some devices, as on mine (galaxy SIII SC-06D) it only succeeds to delete one entry from the clipboard after freezing for a few seconds (it's actually faster to go in the clipboard by myself and delete each entry one by one). Better than nothing..
