Help Galaxy S3 Email Connection error

Hello everyone,

Have been using the phone for 3 weeks now.
Everything OK, but last night I noticed one of my email accounts it's not working anymore. (it's not a Gmail account )
To be more specific I have set up two email accounts (IMAP) on the same server, with exactly the same settings. The only difference in them is their username. One of them is still working without problems.

As for the other one, if I try to sync, refresh, open emails, I keep getting this annoying message "Connection error ( ---@---.-- ) " and nothing happens.
I deleted this account multiple times, cleared the app cache , cleared the app data, restarted phone, took out battery, took out SIM card, deleted both accounts, with no succes.

My brother also has Galaxy S3 and on his phone this email adress works without a problem, with the same settings as mine. So I doubt that there is a problem with the email server.

Please someone help me, because it's very frustrating not to be able to open an email account on a smarthphone. I tried searching for help on other topics, but none of them seem to work. Any ideea would be higly appreciated.
Thankyou in advance.

Don't know if this helps but my e-mail has just starting coming through fine!! Got to office this morning and began to clear out mail (outlook) from my inbox on laptop.....lo and behold e-mail flying through!

I noticed there is a setting 'Recent Messages' which I have set at minimum 25....so assuming once over it stops syncing mail to handset? You can up this as much as you like.

Hope this helps.

I don't know why but it's working now. Since I got this connection error, I recieved several emails on my server ( more than 15 ). So I changed 'Recent Messages' to 25 and tried a sync. It worked.

I believe, as someone else said, there is a glitch at one or more emails ( downloading images or attachments). And it gets stuck at that point. For example, if I change 'Recent Messages' option to 50, the "Connection error" comes back. In my opinion you should get past that point and it should work. The problem is on the phone, not on the server, as I said in my 1st post, my brother's Galaxy S3 email is working without a problem.

I don't know why this glitch or error or bug, doesn't dissapear when I delete the email account. I deleted 10 times I believe. I think that somehow, when I delete it, it doesn't delete completely from the phone and some informations, like attachments, are still saved.

If anyone else have this problem, should give this a try. Myself couldn't find any other workaround.

Hi

I found the answer was a spam email in the inbox. It probably had some kind of weird date which confused the email app.

I signed in to my webmail, found the last email that had downloaded. The next email in my inbox was a spam email which I deleted.

My Samsung S3 then downloaded again normally.
