galaxy s3 hard reboot

I did a factory reset and a reboot on my galaxy s3 it taking forever to complete and turm back on. Its been on the "Samsung" screen for hrs.
 
"Reboot" means turning the phone off, then turning it on. You probably do that every day. I know what a factory reset is. What else did you do? (Even flashing a new ROM shouldn't take more than 5 or 10 minutes to set up and be running.)
