Help Galaxy S3 Icon / Widget Customization?

I am looking for an way to customize icons / widgets on Galaxy S3 without having to use a launcher.
Most specifically I bought this phone primarily to get a bigger screen and make it easier to read. So, bigger icons or shadow boxed around the icon titles would be of great help. Are there any apps for this?
Why would Samsung not put the ability to do this into the phone itself? Large screen with small icons sucks for those of us with older eyes.

Yes there are apps for that, but they are launcher apps.

First of all - does anyone use the Search function anymore?

Second of all, no that is incorrect, apparently the app ICON CHANGER can do it. I have not personally tried it yet (too busy surfing the forum I guess.....)

Others say it works well

EDIT: I re-read the OP and if you're asking about making BIGGER icons, then I'm not sure (and maybe a Launcher does that). If you just want to CHANGE the icons from one picture to another, then my original response above stands.
