Well randomly the music icon ( the pause and play) appears on the top notification bar, I'm not even playing music, I may be just on the internet or Twitter or something and it will randomly appear, does anyone know why? I have done many virus scans and found nothing :(

If you are then go to settings go to language and input then go to voice cmd four apps and turn that off. Voila

Hope that helps

That's the first thing I thought about after reading the thread.

If that doesn't work and you may suspect it was an app you downloaded, which I doubt it..

You can download an app called "Addon Detector" and give it administrative rights. It'll scan and monitor what is changing stuff on your phone.

I tried these and still it appears on the notification bar even when I'm not using the music player, earlier today I done a factory reset and wiped all data however it still does lt, can anyone help why this pause button randomly appears?

Please this is so frustrating, it does it quite often, there is no viruses because I have scanned the phone using various different anti virus apps

Just back up all your data and do a factory reset. This should definitely fix the problem. Import your contacts and then back up to your Google account. When you factory reset it'll back up from your account. Meaning it'll remember what apps you had when you go back to the play store. Then just import your contacts from your SD card or external. Is simple, fast and should fix your problem.

I done this however it still does it, I know this sounds weird but am I exiting the music app wrong or something, all I do is pause the music then exit the app then remove it from multitasking however later in the day a little pause button will appear up in the top left corner and the music widget will appear in the notification center :(

Is this the stock music player that plays music? i don't see an icon in the status bar popping up when I'm playing anything on the player. Could you maybe screenshot what you're seeing?

Basically you know when you play music on the stock music player you get a play button sign and a pause button sign on the status bar, well when the music player is not in use the pause button just randomly appears say once every hour, then in about 30-45 seconds it will disapear but I'm still wondering why this is appearing :(

I have this problem on my phone as well. Do you have any phone numbers rejected (or apps that reject phone numbers)? I reject all unavailable and restricted phone numbers and every time a calls comes in, I get a notification at the top that says "Earphones connected" and then the music player starts (or stops if it was playing). It's extremely annoying but I can't find any setting to change it from doing that.

If you just hit the home button to exit the music player, it will still be in multitasking unless you back out, and well for me at least. When it pops back up go into your task manager and see if it is actually running. If so stop/kill it from there and see if it does it again. If it does idk what to say.... Pull battery and hold down your power button for 10sec then let go, put your battery back in and power back up?

You have to actually "close" the music player. Open the app, press the menu key, and hit "end". If you just pause your music and go back to your home screen, you'll get notifications all day because your music is still running, it's just on pause.

I always close out of it and my task killer doesn't show it as running. The phone will show it as running in the notifications if it's simply paused. I even downloaded an application that locks apps and put a lock on music player and rejected calls still force the app on despite the lock code....but when I go to shut the music off and close the music player, I have to enter the lock code to access it.

I've tested my theory that the rejected calls are turning it on and can duplicate the problem in front of a tech and they still have no idea how to prevent it from happening. :( Super annoying so I just stopped rejecting calls.

I'd go ahead and return it since factory resets didn't help. You have all your stuff backed up already anyways so it shouldn't be much trouble.

I'm having the same issue. Glad to know resetting won't work. My theory, since all others potential fixes are not working, its just an update Samsung needs to fix. I used to have an HTC and it would take a screen shot randomly.. I could not figure out how to fix it, one day I got a system update and It was fixed, something in the last update I guess. Anyways, I have a feeling its a problem of the same kind, so just deal with it and wait for the next update :)

go back to home screen lock phone... unlock and pause goes away :))

Not sure if this helps but what Negation said is true. If you simply pause the music and back out of the App via home button or back button, then the pause icon will be in the status bar. You actually have to physically end the program when in the app. To do this, hit the menu button while in the music player, and select "end" and it will stop the song (as opposed to pausing it) and exit you from the app and there should be no pause button in the notification bar.

If the pause icon shows up randomly at a later time after you've 'ended' the app, then I'm thinking it's a different issue. An issue I am not familiar with.

Hope this helps

Hi everyone - I am having this problem on my phone as well. I have it when I am playing back music on the default player or Podcast using DogCatcher or Beyond Pod, I have tried to turn off bluetooth and use different settings on my phone and still have the problem. The only workaround that I found is Airplane Mode, which turns my $600 phone into a $39 mp3 player:mad:.
Anyone have any new suggestions?
