Galaxy S3 notifications

Hi, when I receive text messages or emails I get a notification in a red bubble saying 1 or 2 depending on how many messages I have received. However once I have read the messages, the notification does not disappear. I have attempted to delete all the messages and emails but the notification does not disappear. I have turned the phone off and restarted it but the problem still remains. It has happened with missed calls too, but for some reason has repaired itself

I was wondering if anyone else has this problem and if anyone knows how to solve it...

Hello mate

I just posted the solution to this so sorry if you've already seen it. All you have to do is to remove the icons, like you would an unwanted widget, ie hold and drag to the trash. Then find the messages app, and then put it back. The notifications should now be gone, without having to do a factory reset :)

Hope that sorts it out for you.

I tried that, and it did work - but only until she got another text, and the problem was back.
I had to do a factory reset anyway, as the screen suddenly went crazy (must've been the newness wearing in...)

Hey everyone,

I was playing with some of the options today and noticed this same problem.

Here's what worked for me:

Go to 'Settings' --> 'Developer options' --> ensure 'Do not keep activities' is UNchecked.

If this doesn't help, try putting the phone through the dishwasher because it's terribly annoying to not know when you have a new e-mail/text. Hope this helps!
